WELCOME! This is the page for determined runners! Is this YOU? Do YOU want to run a marathon? Do YOU want to run a faster marathon? Do YOU want to go under 3 hours!? Meet former sub-3 hour marathoner MIKE CARRINGTON, your trainer!

ABOUT MIKE!  MIKE CARRINGTON (pictured) is a well-known singer/guitarist and guitar teacher in Hong Kong. He was also a multi-sportsman for many years, having competed up to representative level at soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis and cross-country. He re-discovered running in 1981 and ran many races from 1500 metres on the track up to the marathon distance of 42 kilometres. 1986 was the year in which he set 2 track records (1500 and 5000 metres) on successive days in the heat of Hong Kong. They were to stand for over 15 years! In 1991 he climbed Mt. Kinabalu,S.E. Asia's highest peak at 4101 metres. He is a fully qualified fitness and nutrition consultant and has helped many runners to achieve their targets at the marathon and other distances. Over to you, Mike!

"During the 1980's before the advent of special diets and computerised running programmes, I  ran 5 marathons. The first one I survived, and the next 4 were run to improve my times as much as possible. I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams! My times were as follows: 1) 4.44.54 (survival!). 2) 3.25.00. 3) 3.05.21. 4) 2.50.03. 5) 2.47.59.  Would YOU like to improve YOUR times like this!? I think you just might! Please read on. N.B. Copies of my finishers certificates can be sent with your programme on request."

"During the period of time that I ran these races, I kept comprehensive training diaries so that I could look back and check anything and everything should the need arise. The entries included time of day, distance, time, temperature and humidity etc plus any comments that I felt relevant at the time. I have recently re-discovered these long-lost diaries in a trunk where they lay undisturbed for over 15 years. Following repeated requests from several runners (you know who you are!), I have decided to market my training programmes. These programmes are NOT theories. I DID run them and so can YOU!  You will receive the EXACT day-by-day programmes that I followed for 4 months prior to the marathons. The EXACT distances and times it took for me to run them. PLUS valuable tips on injury avoidance, nutrition and shoe purchase! Things don't get any more precise than this! Read on!"

"All my training (and the races) took place in Hong Kong, a pretty warm place most of the time. I was slightly overweight when I started running and not particularly fit. Does that sound like you?  Well, good luck to you. I know precisely how you might be feeling. I've been there! If you're considerably fitter than I was when you start, then you may well beat my times, and that's great too! Someone has to, why not you? Go for it! Keep reading, I've nearly finished!"

"With your selected programme (there are 3 to choose from), you will get all of the tips and tricks that I used to help me through these and many other races. Determination is very important when training for a marathon. You will train in all conditions. Rain or shine you MUST get out there and DO IT! Your dedication to your training for this special event will help to ensure that you can have a good race, maybe a great race! When you complete a marathon, you become one of a special band of people and you will remember that day for as long as you live! Are YOU up for the challenge? If so, and you're in good health, send cheque/money order for HK$295 (made payable to MIKE CARRINGTON) to: P.O. Box No. 11493, General Post Office, HONG KONG. Your programme will be sent to you by REGISTERED MAIL as soon as your payment is cleared. Make sure that you enclose your FULL name and address with your payment to ensure prompt delivery. E-mail me at  emcc42@hotmail.com  should you have any queries. Choose YOUR required programme according to the time you're aiming for: A) 3.30 to 4.00 hours.  B) 3.00 to 3.30 hours. C) Sub-3 hours!   Please make sure that you specify the required programme!. Good luck with YOUR marathon!"
